To Be Frank is an account of the extraordinary life of Frank Thring. Actor, critic, star of movies great, small and fugly, TV fixture, independently wealthy professional flamboyant and a genuine Australian iconoclast.

The book takes the form of a fictional memoir, as if by Frank's own hand, an epic tale in the manner of I Claudius by Robert Graves.

Although technically fictional, the story is thoroughly researched, via print media archives, first- hand oral histories of people who knew and worked with Frank, biographies of his illustrious colleagues in film, radio, TV and theatre, and an array of other sources.
